I ran a virus scan with avast n had to delete a few files because they were not fixable, now ie does

after i had deleted the files my internet explorer quit working yet my yahoo messenger still works as well as all my other instant messengers. how can i fix it, iv tried system restore but its not working either please help me i cant function with out a browser. i even had a friend send me the file to download Mozilla and it too is not working. what do i do??????

The first mistake you made was deleting these infected files instead of putting them in quarantine. The virus has probably infected the winsock file (necessary for a Internet connection).

When you delete a file that cannot be healed - it may be necessary for the proper operation of the Internet. When a file is quarantined - it is renamed and put in the virus vault.

So - how do you get it back? Sometimes - Super Anti-Spware (a free download) will repair the winsock file.
