I always have two things and spybot.. I think they make my pc very slow.. help me to understand the function of those programs

zone alarm is firewall, which allows you to control what applications have access to the internet.

anti-virus only protects against viruses

both can run together at the same time. anti-virus is usually the thing that slows down your computer because it is running real time virus analyzer in the background.

if your computer is low on ram you can add more to speed things up.

on slow machines i sometimes shut down my anti-virus temporarily when i want a speed boost and i'm not download stuff off then net.

I Zone alarm Pro with Norton's, click on antivirus monitoring in zone alarm zone and see otherwise you have a red alarm saying no AV on this pc
