Mostly noobs, the naive, the computer illiterate, and children use AVG Free. People of their ilk love AVG because they say it is easy to use and almost never bothers them with any pop-ups or warnings. Of course AVG Free never bothers them, it hardly ever finds any malware to warn them about!

I never cared to much for the Avast product,, I was using avg free and it caught things that avast never did catch, in fact I used avast for a long time and it never detected a single thing and when I went to avg free it found three viruses that avast did not find, Alot of this just depends on the type of virus definitions that each scanner has, I now recommend the pctools antivirus and it has scheduled scans and auto. updating, It works very well and you can download it here,
