Whats happening?

Computer is so slow! I cant open Windows live messenger because it just closes and crashes, so i have to use old windows messenger. Internet slows at first but then gets faster, when i logged off it said ''computer has been locked'' So i had to switched the system off and then on again. I scanned for viruses with avast! antivirus, and it found nothing, i used disk clean up, it said it didnt needed defragmenting, searched for spyware using spybot search and destroy. What is happening? And also, it sometimes say ''failed to intailize, click ok to terminate the application'' Is my computer busted? Im on windows XP and i got 252 Ram.

Whats happening?live update

hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete, under ''processes'' tap, close a few programs and see if that help. Also try to scan for spyware, virus..ect.....w/ the ''latest'' software. In another word, update ur software and try that again. hope that help

I would try more RAM and check your power Supply is at least 400w.
You need more ram, that's way way way too little to run xp happily.
download free ccleaner(www.hippofile.com) ,let it scan the junk files on your computer and erase them.,another thing click the start and chose the run, in run write down msconfig and click ok,the window will appear chose the startup program window there will appear a list of some of programs that start up when you the windows is loading those that appear next to the msn mesenger in the lower left end in your desktop near beside the clock they can slow down your system to much and slow the start up of the windows, chose from it the unneeded ones by removing the marks, restart your windows,,t may work faster ,but , would recommend you buy more ram, windows xp needs 512mg ram and more to function smoothly,if every thing is ****** up!format the windows and reinstall it,and dont tell me you dont know how!lol,,,good luck
